Wage Computation Function

A Wage Computation Function, abbreviated WCF, is the identified deterministic computation applied to a Wage Fact Set under declared bindings to produce a Canonical Wage State Object.

Required inputs

A WCF operates on:

  • identified Wage Fact Set
  • policy binding
  • jurisdiction binding
  • time index
  • authority context
  • computation version
  • rounding and precision rules where applicable
  • error and uncertainty rules

Output

A WCF resolves a wage value within a declared protocol context. The resolved value becomes Computed Wage only when represented through a valid CWSO under the required bindings.

Computation fingerprint

The computation fingerprint enables the computation basis to be identified, tested and replayed. It must not be described as a generic document hash or as proof that the inputs were correct.

Determinism

Determinism means the same declared inputs, bindings, computation version and rules produce the same result; it does not make incorrect inputs correct.

Replay

Replay re-executes the identified computation against the declared inputs and bindings to reproduce the result.

Software boundary

A spreadsheet formula or software routine is not automatically a WCF. It may form part of a WCF only where it is identified, versioned, policy-bound, reproducible, replayable and used within the required WAGECODE context.

Boundaries

A WCF is not a runtime, a payroll engine, certification, or a legal determination.
